The Faculty of Visual Communication Design (VCD) aims to produce artists, stage designer of communication visual arts, animation, film and TV. The purpose of the faculty is also to produce knowledgeable, arts enthusiast individual who are creative, with good manners and professional through a formal educational programme in the field of visual communication design that is holistic-based and ensuing the current needs in the development of the creative industry. Emphasis is given to the visual arts education in theory, vocational and skills with supports and trainings from experienced, recognized and dedicated lecturers and master teachers in the area of arts communication, 2D design, 3D design and scenography.


Diploma in Visual Communication Design

The focus of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design is on the study of arts communication design and it integrates the knowledge and skills in fine arts, 3D design, visual design and performing arts. The uniqueness of the course is that it offers skills in visual communication design that includes the skills from the static design till moving images design. The combination of these two elements is the exclusivity to the course.

The course gives emphasis to mastery of the basic knowledge in the fields of visual arts including painting and photography. Through the static design knowledge and skills, students can master the area of architecture in the form of visual graphics such as posters, banners, bunting, brochures, pamphlets, corporate image and others.

The next stage, and is complementary to this course is the mastery of design in moving images that give students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills to design a visual production of performing arts such as theatre, music, dance, film and animation. Skills and the effectiveness of visual communication design are an important milestone in determining the visual impact of the performance whether through the design (texture), colour (colour), emotional (mood) and ambience (atmosphere) to allow students to create a set of design and props, costumes, make-up, multimedia, lighting and sound.

The teaching and learning methods using the latest computer software facilities such as ADOBE software and AutoCAD, and emphasis on the theoretical and practical aspects provide opportunities for students to equip themselves as graduates and creative arts activists who are highly skilled.

Graduates from the Diploma in Visual Communication Design have a high potential to pursue in professional career in the creative industry, especially the art of visual communication and the performing arts either as a Graphic Designer, Artistic Director, Production Designer, Art Director, Set Designer, Prop Designer, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Costume Designer, Make-up Designer or even a Multimedia Designer.
