The Department of Music was designed and developed by experienced and qualified academic faculty using the best approaches to teaching and learning. The main objective of this department is to provide students with the exposure that leads to their realization of the importance of musical skills and knowledge in music theory that can serve as the most important elements in the fundamental understanding of music.
There are four specializations for the modules offered, each specialization having its unique characteristics that set it apart from the others, yet all held in close-knit relationship to one another as well as to other art forms.
Other than attending lectures, students of the Department of Music will also have the chance to interact with one another through activities such as ensemble performances and workshops. Courses in ensemble performance that are offered include vocal, guitar, Malay drums, Gambus, Keroncong, Ghazal, Gamelan, Tak Lempong and ethnic music, while workshops include vocal, keyboard, Malay music and ethnic music.
The vision of the Department of Music is to cultivate highly skilled, creative, critical, and highly motivated students who will become the new blood of the local arts industry. Such hopes are placed on the music students of the
National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy
that they are expected to one day emerge as professional musicians, songwriters, arrangers, composers, researchers, instrument makers, managers, producers, critics and teachers who are authorities in their respective fields. |
