The Department of Dance offers comprehensive studies in dance techniques and the various genres of dance from Malaysia, Asia and the West. The department focuses its efforts in cultivating professional dancers who possess good knowledge, capability and in-depth understanding of the art and techniques of both traditional and modern dances.
The main objective of the department of music is to provide students with the exposure that leads to their realization of the importance of musical skills and knowledge in music theory that can serve as the most important elements in the fundamental understanding of music.
The main objectives of the Department of Film, TV and Video is to cultivate creative artisans in the field of media arts – film directors, TV directors and video directors who are well-trained, knowledgeable, highly skilled, creative and professional.
The focus of the Department of Writing at ASWARA is given to writing for stage performances (theatre) and screenplay (films and television), particularly the writing of scripts with the emphasis on practical works (to produce scripts) as well as knowledge in the theories of writing, translation, appreciation and criticism.
Starting from a foundation in the Malay traditional theatres and then moving on to include studies in the development of modern theatre, the approach adopted by the Department of Theatre is to provide retainable skills and experiences according to the current needs of the performing arts industry with emphasis on the practical aspects, without neglecting the need to establish mastery of the theoretical aspects.
